Camera Movement: Dollies, Sliders, and Jibs

What You'll Learn

One of the best ways to add production value to your videos is to utilize controlled camera movement. Hollywood directors and DPs have long known the impact of dolly, crane, jib, Steadicam, trucking and helicopter shots to enhance the movies they work on.

While that level of production may be beyond most corporate and Indie budgets there are now affordable solutions to achieve similar results. This class will introduce you to some of the most common products and tools available to spiff up your productions without breaking the bank.

We will introduce you to sliders, dolly systems, jibs and other camera movement gear and discuss the theory behind the use of various movement techniques. You will then get hands-on time trying out each type of camera movement tool for yourself. It promises to be a fun and "moving" experience for all!

This exciting, HANDS-ON class is held in BDA's Production Studio (located about 100 yards east of BDA) so that students can truly get hands-on time with the tools discussed in this class!
