Curious about how shooting with a Steadicam could add pizazz to your video project? Maybe you already know you would like to use one but don’t know how? Steadicams have been around since the 70’s and allows for smooth camera movement even when the camera operator is moving quickly or over uneven surfaces. This workshop briefly covers the history of the Steadicam, and highlights all of the essential parts and components, proper balancing and operation with and without the vest. While the Steadicam is an art form that requires a great deal of time to master, this course will provide a knowledge base from which students can hone their steadicam skills. The workshop will cover the basics of the steadicam equipment: all essential parts and components, proper balancing and operation with and without the vest, as well as some essential tips for effective use of the Steadicam.
The workshop will also provide an introduction to the Edelkrone equipment available at Denver Open Media - the Action, Target, Pocket and Slider - as well as the CPM camera rigfor DSLRs.
Students who are DOM members will receive one free rental of the Steadicam, one Edelkrone device, or the CPM camera rig after completion of this course.
