CFVA Is Supporting the CINEMA (Colorado Innovators of New Entertainment, Media, and Arts) Fund and We Encourage You to Join Us.
The passing of Colorado’s film incentive bill will help put Colorado film, television and media back to work in the state. The success of turning HB1286 from bill to “law” was a great accomplishment. In addition to the backing of many state legislators, Governor John Hickenlooper and Film Commissioner Donald Zuckerman, it took tremendous community involvement to make it happen. Thank you for your support!
It also took money. The CINEMA Fund was created to help offset the costs of getting the film incentive bill passed during the 2012 Colorado Assembly. The CINEMA Fund’s sole purpose is to support legislation favorable to creating and getting more film, television and media jobs in Colorado.
One of the major law firms in the state, Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck has been functioning as the industry’s lobbyist to get this done. Their efforts were crucial to the process and they did a tremendous amount of work at a significant discount. The money raised so far through the CINEMA Fund helped offset their costs during this past legislative session. However, the work is just beginning. The process of keeping and increasing our incentives is a multi-year effort and we need to continue to raise more money to help them help us.
Don’t forget, in addition to increasing opportunities for those directly involved, this type of incentive can positively impacts hotels, restaurants, caterers, equipment rentals and many other support services. And, they add visibility to our state's image, helping tourism as well!
The Colorado Film & Video Association would like to match dollar for dollar all contributions the community makes up to $1,000. Let’s all do the right thing and stand together as a community. Please contribute what you can--no amount is too small and every bit counts.
