SUCCESS FOR OUR MATCHING PROGRAM

CFVA Is Supporting the CINEMA (Colorado Innovators of New Entertainment, Media, and Arts)

The passing of Colorado’s film incentive bill was tremendous!  In addition to the backing of many state legislators, Governor John Hickenlooper and Film Commissioner Donald Zuckerman, it took community involvement to make it happen.  Thank you to everyone who came out in a show of overwhelming support!

It also took money. The CINEMA Fund was created to help offset the costs of getting the film incentive bill passed during the 2012 Colorado Assembly. As an association, we recently announced our matching program where we would match up to $1000 for the money we raise on the CINEMA Fund’s behalf to reimburse the lobbyist.

Success!  Thanks to member contributions and our matching program, last week we sent a check to Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck for $2010.  On behalf of CFVA and the entire Colorado film, video and digital media community, thank you for your generous contributions to the CINEMA Fund! The bill is not quite paid off for the lobbying efforts of initiating and passing the film incentive program and more will be needed to maintain and expand it for next year. You can still contribute on our homepage and due to the success of our matching program, we may do it again!

THANK YOU FOR A GREAT 30/20 EVENT LAST WEEK

Speed Raceway images

A big thank you from the CFVA board to all of our members and community partners who came out to go-cart race at the 30-20 Celebration. Speed Raceway was very generous in donating a portion of our rental fee and pizza for all attendees, and the Breckenridge Brewery supplied the libations for the networking part of the event. Check out photos taken by local photographer Victor Sanchez from the event on our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Colorado-Film-and-Video-Association-CFVA/112633545488621   Please be sure to “like” our page to stay connected to the latest news and tidbits from our community.

48 HOUR FILM PROJECT

48 Hour Film Project

It’s the busy season for events!  Over this past weekend, CFVA co-sponsored The 48 Hour Film Project and many from our community poured their fake blood, sweat and hopefully a minimal amount of real tears into the creation of their 4-7 minutes films. In 2011, 36 teams registered to compete, but 2012 saw a record breaking 57 registered teams!  The submissions are now being compiled into a truly impressive program to be screened in four sections (a,b,c,d) at the Gothic Theatre (3263 South Broadway, Englewood) THIS SUNDAY, August 12th and YOU are invited as a voting member of the audience.  The screenings tend to be terrifically lively with applauds, costumes and whooping. We hope to see you there.
