Last year you got up early and stood in the frigid cold to support the industry and watch the Colorado Legislature officially designate February 8th, 2012 as CINEMA Day! The House’s visitors’ gallery was filled to capacity; bringing a lot of great energy and attention to film and media and the need for a meaningful incentive program in the state. The legislators heard your calls to action and last July Governor Hickenlooper signed a new film incentive bill. So far this bill has been responsible for bringing in Universal Sports’ broadcasts and business operations, Prospectors from High Noon, Colorado Experience from Rocky Mountain PBS, and the just announced comedy series from Clean Guys Entertainment and NCM Fathom Events. The next several months will show even more amazing results.
This year, we’re not going
to ask you to make signs or to bundle up and stand on the steps of the state
capitol; but we do need your continued support! Please join your fellow
industry professionals, state legislators and interested members of the public
for a CINEMA Day celebration at the History Colorado Center with live music,
food and drink and the official launch of the CINEMA Student Film Competition.
Hear a little more about CINEMA Day here from a story on 9 News, or for more information about CINMEA and to purchase your tickets.
Speaking of links, you’ll notice that the CINEMA official home page is being hosted by the Colorado Film and Video Association (CFVA). We are thrilled to again have the unwavering support of the Colorado Film and Video Association. Not only has the CFVA been a vocal supporter and given us a home on the internet, but the Colorado Film and Video Association has also provided CINEMA with a great new brand logo and CINEMA Day design from the amazing Melissa Kelly http://melissa-kelly.com/ and CFVA has rounded up some great t-shirts for us to visually show our support. It’s no surprise that the Colorado Film and Video Association is once again helping to spearhead the charge to improve film and video in Colorado. We could not do this without leaders like the Colorado Film and Video Association behind us. So go buy your tickets for CINEMA Day, sign up to be a mentor, encourage students to submit a proposal and get your t-shirt to let everyone know that you are helping rebuild Colorado’s economy!
