The SAG-AFTRA National Asian Pacific American Media Committee and National Native Americans Committee invite you to a free panel and workshop Nov. 16. Business of Acting: The Inside Scoop on Casting at the Starz Denver Film Festival will provide the opportunity to practice your auditioning skills in front of a network casting director.
This will be an informative, interactive panel discussion and workshop on the acting industry taught by casting directors, professional actors and other industry experts during the 2014 Starz Denver Film Festival. This free event is open to all ethnicities, SAG-AFTRA members and the general public.
Casting director Fern Orenstein (Senior VP Casting, CBS) will lead a workshop and panel discussion on topics like auditioning, headshots, resumes, reels, representation, self-taping, social media resources and more. Additional panelists include writer/director Sara Colangelo (Little Accidents); talent agent Kathleen Ham; SAG-AFTRA National Board members, Colorado Local President, actor, director and producer Sheila Ivy Traister; SAG-AFTRA National Asian Pacific American Media Committee Chair and actor Ren Hanami; and SAG-AFTRA National Native Americans Committee member and WGA writer Brían Wescott.

As part of this panel and workshop, a select group from the audience will have an opportunity to practice auditioning with on-the-spot feedback from the workshop leaders and casting director.

The workshop casting director will select a diverse group of participants from a wide range of ethnicities, ages and acting experience. You will be notified in advance of the event if you are selected to audition, and you will receive sides to practice. If you are not selected, you will still have the opportunity to drop off your headshot in person at the event for the casting director and workshop leaders.
