PLEASE OPPOSE ANY AMENDMENTS TO REDUCE THE FUNDING IN THE LONG BILL FOR THE OFFICE OF FILM, TELEVISION AND MEDIA.

Colorado's Film and Television Rebate Program is a SUCCESS!!

The Film and Television Rebate Program brings revenue and jobs to rural Colorado! Don't hurt rural Colorado!

Since the passage of HB 1286 by Rep. Ferrandino/Rep. Massey in 2012, Colorado's film, television, and video game production has skyrocketed and the state/cities have collected significant sales tax as a result.

This is a REBATE PROGRAM, not a traditional incentive or "handout."  In order to qualify for the 20% rebate, a production company must be approved in advance by the Economic Development Commission,  employ at least a 50% Colorado workforce, file their taxes in Colorado, and have a Colorado CPA audit their production.

At the completion of the production, and after all of the prior qualifications have been met, then the company will receive 20% back of the amount they spent in Colorado.

In short, Colorado retains 80% of every dollar spent by these production companies, and their spending on each project averages millions for the Colorado economy.
